Alternate sentence practice
From Wikigogy
- teach_tip
This is a four skill exercise done in pairs. If possible, have the pairs sit facing each other.
You need:
- either a dialog, printed so student A gets all of one speaker's lines and B the other
- or a chunk of text, printed so A and B get alternate sentences
That is, each student can see half the text and has space to write in the other half.
Students take turns reading their half while he other writes it down. The idea is for both to end up with a complete text.
With some classes you need to be quite active to prevent them doing it the easy way, just copying off each other's printed sheets.
[edit] Resources
- Downloadable books at http://gutenberg.org are a fine source of texts to work with.
