Ampersand in page name

From Wikigogy

Jump to: navigation, search

An ampersand (&) in a page name causes Wikigogy trouble. Specifically, the & and any part of the page name after it are ignored by the software and you find yourself unable to reach the page you just created.

So always use "and" instead of "&" in page names.

If you unwittingly created a page with an ampersand (&) in its name, move it to a functional page name as follows:

  1. Go to (middle click it to open in new tab):
    http://wikigogy.org/index.php?title=Special:Movepage/Sandbox_%26_hose
  2. In that new tab's browser location bar, change "Sandbox_%26_hose" to "Your_bad_%26_page_name" (using your own bad page name, %26 in place of & and underscore for spaces) and hit Enter
  3. Then in the To new title field change "&" to "and" and click Move page.

If you get stuck, ask me (Roger) and I will happily move it for you.

Percent-encoding for & is %26.
