Integration refers to the use of different branches of English language like grammar, vocabulary or speaking in a single-branch lesson like reading, for example.
The branches revered to in the above definition are grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, speaking and listening. These branches are the most common topics and skills which are taught to the students in the English curricula. The single-branched lesson, In the other hand, is a lesson which contain one subject or one topic of the branches mentioned before
Teaching several branches and topics through one lesson is called INTEGRATION. In other words, if a teacher teaches a reading passage to his students, he could verifies his lesson through eliciting grammar rules from sentences in the reading passage, in this case he integrated grammar and reading in one lesson.
[edit] Advantages of Integration
Integration has many advantages. Such advantages make it more efficient method for teaching a complex lesson – that has more than one skill topic in a single lesson-. These advantages may summed up in several points such as that integration saves the period time by shorten the explanation part instead of explaining each topic alone. Another advantage is that integration makes both teacher and students focus on one topic with interfering branches. Reminding the students with examples of previous grammar rules and vocabulary is another advantage of integration.
[edit] Disadvantages of Integration
In the other hand, integration has some disadvantages. Such as, integration could be practiced by experienced teachers and could be difficult for novices. Some parts of the lesson could not be taught before to the students, therefore, explaining these rules to the students could take time which is a disadvantage of integration but it could be solved by leaving that part with small note and moving on with the rest of explaining the rest of the lesson.

In conclusion, integration method is a success considering the type of the lessons provided in the school textbooks, which are a complex of reading, writing and grammar in a single lesson.
