Wikigogy is C L O S E D

Wikigogy saw little action. So I closed it. It had been an interesting two years with some spurts of generous content writing from a handful of people. However, most months had seen no activity except spam bot fighting. Wikigogy -- Closed as of August, 2008 -- was a networking Web site for teachers of English as a second or foreign language.

  • Site may be removed soon. For now to fight spam efficiently Wikigogy will periodically be reverted to its August, 2008 state.
  • Comments about the site closure are welcome on the Main page.

[edit] Neutral tone

Write in a gentle objective tone that does not cross swords with others' opinions. Diverse views are welcome but arguments, political, professional or private, are not. They are not what Wikigogy is for.

  • If you feel a page is non-neutral please
correct it by editing the page, or
put the neutral tone violation tag {{ntvio}} on the page and someone else will look into fixing it.

Further thoughts and comments about this policy are welcome on the Talk page.

[edit] Heading

Headings break pages up into logical sections. Start with 2 equal signs (==) so that the page title remains the only H1 heading.

  • H2 headings first level divisions within a page, create with 2 equal signs (==) on both ends of a line. Please use this only when it is really waranted, for example to divide long pages. For smaller pages, consider starting with H3 headings instead.
  • H3 headings subheadings within H2 headings, create with 3 equal signs (===) at both ends of a line. On simpler pages, it's okay to skip H2 headings and start with H3 headings instead -- do what looks right to you.
  • H4 headings subheadings within H3 headings, create with 4 equal signs (====) at both ends of a line.
  • H5 headings subheadings within H4 headings, create with 5 equal signs (=====) at both ends of a line.

AVOID USING FULL CAPS in headings -- let Wikigogy's default heading styles shine through for a consistent look and feel across the site.

[edit] Contents

If a page has more than three headings a table of contents will automatically appear at top. If you don't want it, put __NOTOC__ at page bottom.

[edit] List

  • Bullet lists use squares on Wikigogy. When numbered lists are needed, numbers can be created by using # instead of *. Please use bullet lists normally because numbered lists are more trouble to maintain.
  • No blank lines between list items is best. The software can handle blank lines in bullet lists okay but numbered lists start over with 1 at blank lines. For a paragraph break in a list item you can use <br /> instead of a blank line.
  • Bold focus the main word in each list item if you like.

[edit] Short and simple work

Keep it short and simple -- easy to read, easy to edit.

It works better.

Help us edit pages down to their bare message whenever you can. This is an essential part of collaborative work.
