Wikigogy is C L O S E D

Wikigogy saw little action. So I closed it. It had been an interesting two years with some spurts of generous content writing from a handful of people. However, most months had seen no activity except spam bot fighting. Wikigogy -- Closed as of August, 2008 -- was a networking Web site for teachers of English as a second or foreign language.

  • Site may be removed soon. For now to fight spam efficiently Wikigogy will periodically be reverted to its August, 2008 state.
  • Comments about the site closure are welcome on the Main page.

Joe, thanks for contributing this introduction to language teaching methods and approaches. I have wikified it into a wiki page Method and approach that I hope will grow and change, the wiki way, into an even richer page. Bon voyage, page! --Roger 03:23, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Naming conventions

I'm not sure whether or not we should capitalize well known names of ideas, such as Communicative Language Teaching, or not on Wikigogy. At first blush I tend to thing that we should treat them as proper nouns and capitalize them as such per our naming conventions proper noun rule. So let's do so, as Joe originally has done in the source for this article, on the proper noun grounds for now and see where it gets us. --Roger 06:32, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

I try to follow Wikipedia's naming conventions rules where appropriate for Wikigogy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Naming_conventions_(capitalization)

[edit] Where is the article headed?

Where might Method and approach be headed as a Wikigogy article? Some ideas:

  • Names of methods, approaches and curricular strategies in the article can be turned into links to pages about themselves as people become interested in writing more about them. Initially this might be done when someone actually writes such a page to link to in that way. Otherwise we have a page full of red links... wait, the red links might actually invite folks to start writing! Maybe we should make the links now for that reason! Sorry, I don't know. So I'll sleep on it. :-) --Roger 06:57, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
