[edit] Introduction
Writing is an important language skill. Writing is a productive skill that shows how skillful the student is in writing and discovers the talented students in this field. In addition, writing is a way that a student can express his ideas or thoughts on the paper. Therefore, teaching this skill in a proper way is potential. Therefore, and in the matter of presenting the excellent way to teach writing, EFL teachers divide teaching writing procedures into three stages; Pre-writing stage, while writing stage, and Post-writing stage. Now, these three stages will be explained and supported with examples:
[edit] Pre-writing stage
This stage is the outlining stage of writing. This stage will be done by the students alone. The teacher's role is to give the students a topic, then he ask them to give him a full sentences related to the writing topic that is either given by the teacher or by the book. Either the teacher writes the sentences on the board or makes the students do it. The students must write these sentences on their notebooks. However, the teacher must write correct sentences on the board, therefore, if the student gives an incorrect sentence, the teacher must correct it.
[edit] While writing stage
In this stage, the teacher helps his student to find out the topic sentence, or provide them a one if it is not given earlier. However, the teacher must explain to his students what is meant by topic sentence, to make them know what they are looking for. Then the teacher with his students arranges the sentences that are given by the students and written on the board. By this step, the paragraph is made and the students are arranged, but the work is not finish yet.
[edit] Post-writing stage
This stage is called the previewing or the editing stage. After the topic is given and the sentences are arranged, the editing is the final stage to make a well-done paragraph. In the final stage, the teacher edits the first draft that is made by the students, by arranging the paragraphs and put down the commas and the points, or put the linking words between the sentences to produce a very good written essay. Finally, the students write down the final draft in their notebooks.
