Wikigogy is C L O S E D

Wikigogy saw little action. So I closed it. It had been an interesting two years with some spurts of generous content writing from a handful of people. However, most months had seen no activity except spam bot fighting. Wikigogy -- Closed as of August, 2008 -- was a networking Web site for teachers of English as a second or foreign language.

  • Site may be removed soon. For now to fight spam efficiently Wikigogy will periodically be reverted to its August, 2008 state.
  • Comments about the site closure are welcome on the Main page.

Hello Archie, Changchun on your User page is in off site link format indicated by the arrow icon. You may prefer to use on site link form, Changchun. You might also enjoy writing some travel info on http://wikitravel.org/en/Changchun. Pashley put up an outline there but nothing more yet. He is an English teacher in Zhuhai with some lessons here on Wikigogy. I'm excited about creating sinergy between our site and Wikitravel. Glad to have you at Wikigogy :-) --Roger 23:10, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Yoda likeness

Hello Archie, the Yoda picture is cute but I believe under copyright that does not allow for it to be licensed with our Copyleft. If I am mistaken, please explain here. Meanwhile, per our Copyleft I need to take it down. Sorry about this. It is a matter of law. Perhaps a picture of you would be available and even better there anyway? --Roger 04:40, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

Would it still be a copyright infringement if the picture of Yoda on my user page is the product of my own efforts as in using Photoshop so many years ago? :Would it matter if I didn't rip it off any website, and that I can genuinely call the file mine?
My understanding of the copyleft licence is (depending of the degree one is allowed to do) anyone else can use, modify, distribute one's work provided due credit is give. Is my interpretation incorrect?
I truly appreciate your concerns and you deserve an explanation. Please decide whether my short argument is considerable, or whether I must change it.
Thank you for your attention. --CHI Preacher
Archie, movie characters are generally the intelectual property of the movie's producer. I believe any recognizable likeness of any such movie character is a violation of the movie producer's copyright to the character. Some legal fair use exceptions would be made for factual use of the likeness in areas such as education and journalism. I think such fair use exception does not apply to your use of Yoda's likeness on your user page here on Wikigogy.org. I am not a lawyer don't want to hire one but this is my honest understanding. I'm sure fellow Wikigogy users would like to see a picture of you smiling out from your user page more than Yoda, too. I know I would love to. Have you do it Yoda would. How about it? --Roger 06:02, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
Aha, glad to see your picture. Thanks, :-) --Roger 20:43, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
