[edit] Quick debates
Sandy, Thanks for the Quick debates lesson. I added some word sets. Got any word sets you have found to be winners? May depend a little on the level and interests of the students. So maybe several word sets could be added by folks over time. Thanks for helping out at Wikigogy! --Roger 22:07, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Programming
Hi Sandy, Are you teaching English or Computer Programming or maybe English for Computer Programmers? Materials for teaching English for Computer Programmers could fit into Wikigogy's mission under English for specific professions (ESP).
The Multiple choice program and Multiple choice program comments pages seem to lean towards teaching computer programming although the program example is a CALL program.
Wikigogy is not, as I envision it, a teaching site for students to use but rather a teachers' site where teachers share and develop teaching materials and network with each other. If you want to develop the Multiple choice program pages as a teacher sharing an English teaching resource with other teachers, that might work great.
If you want to use the Multiple choice program pages as a venue where students can practice English and programming, I suspect this usage might be more in line with the http://Wikiversity.org mission. Darn, I think all Wikimedia Foundation websites, including Wikiversity, are inaccessible in China because of the Chinese firewall Wikipedia block. Hmm.
Kinda depends what you want to do. There is room for some experimentation at Wikigogy. Let's see how this develops.
You could also consider setting up a wiki specifically for your students at http://www.commwikis.com or one of the other wiki farms. If you are interested in setting up a wiki for your students, here are two pages reviewing more wiki farms:
- http://c2.com/cgi/wiki?WikiFarms <-- use your browser's Find feature on that page to find wikis running "MediaWiki"

- My title is Lecturer in Computer Science, my students are 3rd or 4th year university CS majors, but the text is an overview thing that would be used in 1st year in a E-speaking country. Really, I'm teaching English with a heavy dose of CS vocabulary.
- I put the program here because it is something other teachers might use. I haven't time to document it properly; the comments are what I had to hand; an email to students. I'll edit them to clarify that. Not sure when. --Pashley 07:44, 3 May 2007 (CDT)
- Software for making multiple scrambled versions of multiple choice tests. Thanks, this could be useful to English teachers. I've renamed the pages to
- Multiple Choice Program, Version 1 (about the software) and
- Multiple Choice Program, Version 1/Code (subpage for the software's C code).
